Tip of the Week: Tracking Telemedicine
June 18, 2024, The Association
When it comes to virtual vet care, do you know what’s legal in your area? This tool shows you the laws in every state
While we know that telemedicine is a crucial piece of the puzzle in solving access to care AND the veterinary shortage, the laws, shared by the ASPCA’s Jennifer Hobgood, Senior Director of State Legislation in last week’s online Solutions Summit, “are patchwork and unclear.”
But thanks to Veterinary Virtual Care Association, which aims to make virtual care part of the standard of care in veterinary medicine, this interactive map tracks laws in every state—including where virtual VCPR (Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationships) is allowed and where there is “absolutely NO telemedicine VCPR,” as well as various exceptions and limits, including allowances for COVID.
