Tip of the Week: Shelter Care Specialist Certification Program
Are you a shelter team member on the frontlines, or do you manage staff who are? This program can take them—and you—to the next level
Applications are now being accepted for the Winter 2026 Shelter Care Specialist Certificate Program session. This free training from The Koret Shelter Medicine Program and Maddie’s Fund covers foundational shelter best practices, medical and behavioral care, and skills to support veterinary professionals.
As space is limited in this popular program, the winter session will prioritize applicants from medium-to-larger public or private shelters that hold stray intake contracts and take in both dogs and cats. You may still apply if your shelter doesn’t meet these criteria, but please know that your application may be saved for a future cohort.
