Tip of the Week: Right on the Button

June 27, 2023, The Association

Are you posting available jobs on your social media channels? Good thinking. Here are some ideas for refining your strategy.

HR teams, are you leveraging social media to fill your open positions? While shelters and animal welfare organizations typically focus their content on available animals, it’s also smart to post your available jobs. Remember, says Tom Erb, “People may not know they want a job at your organization until you tell them about it.”

The staffing and retention expert shares two quick for upping your game on social media:

– Instead of using the phrase APPLY NOW on your social media posts featuring jobs, try LEARN MORE instead. Research has found that the LEARN MORE messaging gets significantly more applications than APPLY NOW as, says Erb, “it leaves options option.”

– In addition to sharing job listings, don’t forgot to post pictures of what current employees are doing on a daily basis. Give folks a taste of what it might be like to work at your organization.

These tips were shared by Tom Erb during his session, 10 Ways to Attract and Retain Talent in a Crazy Labor Market, at The Solutions Summit earlier this month. If you missed or would like to revisit the session, here’s how to access the recordings.
