Cool New Forms & Samples: Generational Lunch & Learn Toolkit
SPCA of Texas’ VP of People & Culture shares resources for building better understanding amongst intergenerational teams—including ice breakers, case studies and yup, even bingo
Like many organizations, you may be working alongside a diverse group of colleagues from boomers to Zoomers. Whether you’re in an executive role or working your way there, you can use this nifty Lunch & Learn Toolkit to help build better understanding across generations.
“I created the Generational Lunch & Learn Toolkit in response to real organizational needs that we identified through employee feedback, culture surveys and day-to-day leadership observations,” shares SPCA of Texas’ Judith Dumont, M.Ed., SHRM-CP. The VP of People & Culture hopes the resource can be useful to colleagues in the field. “Use it to turn the differences in communication styles, expectations ad work approaches into strengths, rather than to create barriers.”
The activities can be explored during a lunchtime funtime event or professional development session. We love the simple, but effective icebreakers—“Name a song that captures your generation’s vibe,” for example—and the suggestions for interactive bridge-building. And you’re going to definitely want to try Generational Bingo—can you identify colleagues who use fidget toys, or always want to know WHY before completing a task?
Download the Toolkit and let us know if you have activities and resources to add to it.
