Tip of the Week: Online Mental Health Awareness Training
This free one-hour course explores the unique mental health issues faced by rural communities
Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and NY FarmNet have teamed up with Rural Minds to launch a free mental health and suicide prevention course.
The self-paced one-hour training is tailored for veterinary students, veterinarians and others in the animal welfare profession, especially those working in rural communities. According to NY FarmNet’s Adam Howell, rural communities have a 65% higher chance of suicide than urban populations, due to isolation and stress.
The free course offers practical strategies and tools for supporting mental health and suicide prevention efforts. Explore the course on your own time and learn how to play a role in fostering healthier, more resilient rural communities.
