Tip of the Week: Which Communities Most Need Resources? There’s a Map for That

August 2, 2021, The Association

Welcome to Tip of the Week! Every Monday, we’ll be passing along tools, time-savers, and just-plain-genius ideas that your colleagues and members of the Association have suggested and tested. If you’ve got a helpful how-to that’s easy to grok and even easier to implement, leave a comment and tell us all about it.

Now more than ever, it’s crucial that community resources go to the people and pets who need them the most. “This resource may be helpful to determine which areas in your community are considered low-income,” says Sandi Mercado, Executive Director at Citizens for Animal Protection of PolicyMap’s tool that syncs up Census data to identify low-income communities. You can search by complete address, ZIP code, and latitude/longitude coordinates.

Click to access the tool here. There will be a pop-up window explaining the purpose of the tool and how to use it.
