Tip of the Week: No-Hesitating Donating
It’s the start of a new week, and we’re kicking it off with some #MondayMotivation, courtesy of Bonney Brown and Diane Blankenburg of Humane Network.
Is your website getting in the way of donations because it’s not as user-friendly and intuitive as it could be? Do people have to click through multiple pages in order to support your mission? In their recent webinar, End-of-Year Fundraising: Getting Your Paws on More Money this Year, Bonney Brown and Diane Blankenburg shared some easy and actionable tips for maximizing your year-end fundraising impact:
- The goal, states Blankenburg, is to “not only make it easy for folks to give, but easy to make a decision on how much to give.” To that end, she recommends a tactic shown in the image at the top of this blog. “It’s effective to visually suggest a particular amount by highlighting it in a different color, even though there are other options. We’ve found that if you do that, people are more likely to give in that amount.”
- Go ahead, try it at home. That’s right, make a small donation yourself and step through the process to learn what your donors go through. “You can also ask others to do this, particularly people who are not in your organization, and give you feedback on what the experience was like,” says Blankenburg.
- Having a goal meter that tracks donations is really helpful, too, as it can create a sense of urgency and inspire people to take action in the moment. Shares Blankenburg, “It also helps them realize the overall impact of what they are contributing to.”
