An Open Invitation to All Animal Welfare CEOs
If you believe in an animal welfare profession that’s focused on impactful solutions rather than name calling and bullying, join us in New Orleans this November
Dear Leader,
There is little doubt that our profession is facing some big challenges today. But, we’ve faced big challenges before, and we’ve faced them head-on.
And we’ve faced them together.
If you know me, you’ve probably heard me use some variation of the following concept many, many times: The real power of The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement is in the network. I joined The Association early in my career and its community has informed me, comforted me, challenged me and formed me into the leader I’ve become. I come to you today to invite you to a brand-new manifestation of the strength of our network: The Network Live.
As the leader of your organization, you know that the animal welfare narrative is constantly evolving, and it is imperative that we continue to evolve with it. But it’s equally imperative that we manage it wisely and share it with our communities to make it easy for folks to see their roles in it. The Network Live, held the day before The Annual Conference, is an opportunity for us to make sure we continue to separate the truth from the nonsense, and that we focus on impactful solutions rather than name calling and bullying. Be prepared to delve into the most pressing issues we’re facing right now: staffing shortages, shelter population bottlenecks, and the increasingly limited access to care for both shelters and pet owners. Together, we’ll build and shape solutions that actually work.
At The Network Live on November 17 and at The Annual Conference immediately following it, you’ll engage with trailblazers, experts, and visionaries just like yourself. As a leader in our field, your voice and insight are vital to shaping these conversations and outcomes. If you are a member of The Association, your presence is crucial.
If you are not yet a member, there’s no better time to join.
And, while I have you, please consider bringing one or more of your emerging leaders. Our profession is aging, and as such we’ll be seeing a significant number of leadership transitions over the next five to ten years. Get ahead of the curve and make The Network Live and The Annual Conference part of your succession and professional development plans.
Looking forward to seeing you in New Orleans,
Jim
