Tip of the Week: Go-To Guide for Animal Services
This free new resource has already been hailed as a game changer for anyone in non-profit and municipal animal sheltering
“After decades in animal welfare serving as a shelter vet/surgeon, a public shelter director and consultant, I’ve learned how important it is to set our communities up for success,” says Team Shelter USA’s Dr. Sara Pizano. To that end, with support from Maddie’s Fund she’s put together a free new resource aimed at finding shelter animals new homes—and keeping them there.
The 66-page guide covers everything from models for field services infrastructure to strategies for managed coordinated intake. You’ll find sample templates of contracts between shelters and municipalities, FAQs, and recommendations for revising local ordinances—including updates to reflect current humane practices, such as guidelines for feeding community cats, and removing outdated provisions like breed-specific legislation. You can get your guide here.
