Tip of the Week: Embrace the Suck
Hey there, Monday! Time once again for Tip of the Week, where we pass along tools, time-savers, and just-plain-genius ideas that experts, colleagues and members of The Association have suggested and tested.
Yup, that title says it all. And if you’ve been in any of Josh Vaisman’s webinars and/or conference keynotes, you may have heard this catchphrase from the positive psychology expert before.
Embrace the suck.
“Negative emotions are both NORMAL and NECESSARY,” says Josh.
Notice the difference when you replace the often-heard “Don’t worry, be happy” or “Smile, it can’t be that bad,” with, as Josh suggests, “My struggle is real, normal, and valid.”
If this tip resonates with you, we think you’ll love Josh’s upcoming interactive 3-hour intensive, Breaking Happy: A Sustainable Path to Well-Being. Find out more about the September 15 online event.
