Belinda Lewis, CAWA, Named Honorary Member
Join us in thanking Lewis—and all our Honorary Members—for their contributions to the profession and to The Association
“She’s an icon in animal care and control who has provided a great example for others to emulate,” says The Association’s President & CEO, Jim Tedford, CAWA, about Belinda Lewis. Lewis recently retired after serving 28 years as the Director of Animal Care and Control in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and 33 years in animal sheltering and field services. She currently serves as an instructor for Code 3 Associates, teaching for the NACA/NACHO academies, and occasionally joins the ASPCA’s Field Investigations and Response team. Notes Tedford, “She helped build bridges between The Association and leaders in governmental animal services agencies.”
A CAWA and an active member of The Association, Lewis served on the Membership Committee and spoke at our 2018 Annual Conference. To show our gratitude for her years of dedication, we are thrilled to bestow Honorary Membership on Lewis. As Tedford describes what it means to be an Honorary Member, “They will be members of The Association, always.”
Congratulations, Belinda, on your incredible career, and best wishes for what’s on the horizon. Adds Tedford, “I can’t wait to see the incredible nature photography she will create in her retirement!”
