Thank you for your interest in The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement. By joining, you become part of an elite group of animal welfare professionals who are pursuing the growth and prestige of our business. As members, we not only set the high standards of quality and ethics for all animal welfare administrators; we have the following objectives:

  • To promote the sharing of information among and within animal welfare and control agencies.
  • To enhance the positive and professional image of animal welfare and control agencies
  • To provide education opportunities for our members.
  • The Association's mission is the promotion of humane ideals and a professional approach to management of private or governmental animal welfare and control agencies.

Membership Levels and Fees

Animal Welfare Professional ($250/year) - Any individual, functioning as the chief executive, managerial or non-managerial position of an agency, in good standing, that operates an animal welfare or animal care and control operation or an organization that enforces animal regulations. Any individual interested in the field of animal welfare or animal care and control, to include association professionals, agency board members, or government commissioners. Anyone that serves as a vendor to the trade would not qualify for this membership level.

Industry Partner ($350/year) - Individuals employed with vendors to the trade.

Retired - The Association executive or manager members, who have officially retired from animal welfare, care and control management, are in good standing, are a minimum age of 55, and have been a member of The Association for at least 10 years, and the combination of The Association membership years and years in animal welfare must be a minimum of 30.

Student ($15/year) - Any individual who is preparing for a career in animal welfare and is currently enrolled full or part time at an accredited degree-granting college or university. The student shall not be employed full time by an animal welfare organization; and shall not be joining to promote a business.

Learning Non-Members ($0) - A new, free membership type open to anyone which only allows access to The Association's online learning opportunities in The Learning Center
